Sustainable protection through rockfall and avalanche protection dams

Rockfall and avalanche protection dams offer a sustainable, long-lasting, and low-maintenance solution for the protection of people and infrastructure – both along critical transportation routes and in residential areas and ski resorts. Once completed, these structures blend harmoniously into the landscape and, thanks to their robust construction, provide effective protection even against extreme events.

Planning and expertise from a single source

Based on thorough hazard analyses, the protection dams are planned and dimensioned by our interdisciplinary teams of natural hazard experts and structural engineers. In doing so, we ensure compliance with standards for energy absorption capacity and adapt construction methods accordingly – ranging from pure earth dams to dams with uphill-side rock armoring or reinforced earth structures.

Geological and geotechnical construction support

During the construction phase, we support our clients with comprehensive geological and geotechnical expertise. In close coordination with the client, regular site inspections and plate load tests of individual fill layers are carried out and interpreted to ensure the dam's stability in its final state. Based on the test results, innovative and cost-effective solutions are developed to enable efficient and budget-friendly project implementation.
